4th of July weekend....

We decided to head out of town for the 4th of July this year.  What a great time it was!! When we got to St Louis it started pouring!  The hotel restaurant was closed so we had to borrow some umbrellas and walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner.  WE ended up being able to go our for a walk later that evening once the rain stopped.

 We got to finally let Hailey see a giraffe.  It rained most of Monday morning while we were at the zoo, but it kept it cool and it kept people away.  By the end of the day it was getting hot and crowded.  So glad we didn't let the rain stop us from going.  The girls each made an animal at the build a bear workshop there.  Hailey made a fox and Alyssa made a tiger.  So not what I would have thought they would pick, but they are happy so......  Then we walked to dinner at TGI Fridays, we were headed down to the Arch and decided taking the girls on a carriage ride sounded good.  By the time we got back from the ride Alyssa looked so worn out we just headed back to our room.  Ended up taking them downstairs to get their own little starbucks. Then headed into the pool.  We had gotten back to the room and showers done just in time for the start of the fireworks.  It was great being able to see them from our room.

 My camera battery died after the zoo so I missed out on some great pictures but will post what I was able to get.  We didn't have too much planned for our trip home so we just took our time and even stopped at a McD's with a playland for the girls to have some more fun.

Everything was closed Sunday so we had to make our own fun with some expensive ice cream from the gift shop.

Penguins!!!

We had just come out of the penguin exhibit so the camera lens was foggy....

It was so cool to be so close to this ape!!!  He was eating his lunch and picking at his bum.  It was so gross!!

Russ actually touched the sting rays, but the girls not so much.

These masks actually had glow sticks in them.  They had a blast!!
